~12 blocks (1 mile) to the Smoke Tree Commons and Village center with restaurants, shops, two grocery stores and more; (20 minutes walk) (4 minute drive).
9 minute drive (3 miles) to downtown Palm Springs with many restaurants, shops, museums, spas, etc.
Close to everything, but in a quiet residential neighborhood (Araby Cove) adjacent to many hiking trails.
Makes you feel like you are staying in Joshua Tree, but with easy access to world-class services.
10 minute drive from the Palm Springs Airport (PSP), but completely out of the flight path (no airport / airplane noise)
1 mile to restaurants and shops; 3 miles to downtown
Araby Cove History:
The hillside development of Araby Cove was created in the 1920s in southeast Palm Springs.
It was considered a refuge from the desert.
It’s one of the first and oldest subdivisions in Palm Springs, and features eclectic architecture and nearby canyon hiking trails.
Upper Araby Cove Location Advantages:
The Upper Araby Cove, in southern Palm Springs, is elevated a bit above the main part of the city, and is tucked up against RimRock.
There is almost no airport or airplane noise in the Upper Araby Cove because we are too close to the mountains to make it reasonable for airplane flight paths (landings / takeoffs); (the other parts of Palm Springs can have a lot of airplane or airport notice due to flight paths or direct proximity to the airport).
Much less wind in the Upper Araby Cove; therefore we get almost no blowing sand; which is very different than the north/central part of the city (especially north Palm Springs) where blowing sand (and wind in general) can make it considerably uncomfortable.
Only 77 homes in Araby Cove.
Easy Access to Hiking Trails:
Because of our location in the Upper Araby Cove, we have very easy access to some wonderful hiking trails
Araby Trail (10 minute walk from house) is interesting for many reasons including because it provides wonderful views of the Bob Hope house (and the Elrod House). (link2)
Earl Henderson Trail - access to this trail can be found in the neighborhood at the end Smokewood Ave. It links up to the Araby Trail as well.
Wash gravel utility road - there is a gravel road (no cars) along the wash - it takes you to the Indian Canyons neighborhood.
A list of shops and restaurants around of the house can be found using links on the Cholla House Misc Links page.
Nearby Hotels - The Cholla house is a good alternative to staying at a hotel:
