Mark has been providing short-term rentals for over 20 years.

He started by furnishing a rental house in Berkeley in 2005, and offering it for short-term rent (3 years before Airbnb was founded). Visitors at that time had very few options for furnished housing; there were plenty of housing options which were unfurnished, and required a 9 month lease (where the renter had to setup their own utilities, etc.), but other than expensive hotels, there were very few other options. Many people visiting UC Berkeley took advantage of the house over the years.

His current vacation rental is the Cholla House in Palm Springs, California which was purchased in 2024, and underwent a stunning renovation in 2025. This renovation now offers guest comfortable, spacious, luxurious accommodations to Palm Springs visitors.

Mark has stayed at multiple furnished properties at many locations in the USA, as well as in Europe and Latin America.  Those experiences have been great for learning what is important to travelers/visitors.
