General House Overview:
- Remodeling: Overall home was remodeled in 2006, but many upgrades have been done since that time. Many of these improvements have been highlighted in the "Updates" section of this web site.
- Comfort | Temperature: The house was insulated in 2006, and a high efficiency central force air furnace was installed in 2011; so this house maintains a more comfortable temperature more easily than many Berkeley houses.
- Window Coverings: Decorative cloth accordion (cellular) blinds that function both top-down and bottom-up for maximum flexibility - provides privacy with still an option for lots of natural light [Instructions (PDF)]

Master Bedroom:
- Large Closet - hangers as well as a built-in organization unit (shelves and drawers)

- Queen size mattress - top of the line Ikea model - all mattresses at the McGee house are replaced as per manufacturer recommendations (usually at least every 10 years)
- Alarm clock
- Optional twin air mattress available (on request) which makes it so the house sleeps 5 - air mattress can fit in either bedroom, or the main living area - this is a high quality/comfortable mattress made by Aero, and is very easy to inflate (in under 3 minutes) using the built in electric pump [Mattress Product Listing (PDF)]
Second Bedroom:
- Closet (includes some shelves as well as hangers)

Bathroom:

- All towels are organic cotton

- Bath tub (obviously great for kids)
- Glass enclosure around the bathtub, so there is no shower curtain to attract mildew, and water does not get around the rest of the bathroom

Back Yard:
- Private outdoor backyard (fully landscaped)

- New deck installed in 2009
- Often able to connect to the wireless internet while sitting in the back yard
- Approximate yard size: 1300 square feet
- Grass area in middle surrounded by landscaping and deck
- Yard furniture: table and chairs
- Yard fully enclosed by a fence
- Plum tree - produces delicious fruit from appox. May/June to Aug/Sept - only for guests of the McGee house, so guests can help themselves
- Room for vegetable gardening (which can be done all year round in Berkeley) if desired
